MARKETING

Because I spent the past semester interning at such a small museum, I was able to work closely with the entire staff. Assisting with the marketing needs was quite foreign to me as an Art History student. However, I am very familiar with social media and working with those sites to create posts for museum events (despite its closure) came quite easily.

I sent out electronic blasts to online calendars throughout the local area and was the first step of press releases to inform the public of all the details behind two recurring museum led events. The first, Family Art Day, is held the third Saturday of every month when families and University students can come and learn about an art process or topic as well as learn a bit about museum culture. The second was Museum + Music. This monthly event showcased pieces of the collection as they correlated with a certain genre or era of music. Often times, the live performances are from undergrad or graduate music students from Utah State University.

For each of these events I had an on and off campus poster route for distribution. These days were enjoyable as I was able to take a break from the office and drive around the valley in gorgeous spring weather. While delivering posters on campus, I was able to interact with students who didn't know the museum even existed and inform them of what it has to offer.
